SCHOOLBOY LABOUR
Special Concession To Fruit Fanners Dominion Special Service. DUNEDIN. January 20. At a meeting of the Otago High Schools Board today, letters were received from the Coal Creek Fruitgrowers’ Association and the Teviot Fruitgrowers’ Association asking that in view of the lateness of the fruit season and the shortage of labour, they be enabled to retain the services of secondary school pupils already employed on fruit farms till the end of. February. The board viewed the request sympathetically. After discussion it was decided that the board should grant exemption for the month of February to those pupils whom employers regarded as necessary for the carrying on of the work, employers to make application to the board for such exemption.
