PETROL FOR E.P.S.

Official Discussions The question of providing sufficient petrol to keep E.P.S. vehicles in good running order, and of supplying petrol to enable the cars to be driven to mobilization positions in the event of an alarm, was discussed yesterday at a conference attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Supply, the Minister of National Service, the Chief of the General Staff, the QuartermasterGeneral and the Oil Fuel Controller. Following this a discussion took place between the mayor of Wellington, Mr, Hislop, the Minister of National Service, the Quartermaster-General and the Oil Fuel Controller. Certain detailed matters were left in the hands of the Oil Fuel Controller, the E.P.S. transport controller (Mr, L. S. Drake) and Mr. E. A. Biitt (chairman of the executive of the Wellington Automobile Association) for finality. Discussions took place yesterday afternoon and the outcome should be available today. The mayor said he was confident that, as a result of the discussions, petrol would be made available for the cars engaged in E.P.S. service.
