Former Member Of Gestapo (Received December 2, 6 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, December 1. The Governor of California, Mr. Olson, has granted an unconditional pardon to Jan Valtin, author of “Out of the Night,”, ft'ho served a prison term in 1920 and faces deportation as an undesirable alien. The Governor expressed the hope that the pardon would prevent Valtin's deportation to Germany. Valtin’s book became a best-seller in the United .States and reveals how he was once forced to enter the Gestapo. The proceedings against him were sqid to be based on the book.
