AUSTRALIAN’S OPTIMISTIC INSTINCT
(Received December 2, 7 pm.) SAN FRANCISCO, December 1. Mr. R. A. G. Henderson, chairman of the Associated Press and general manager of the “Sydney Morning Herald, who arrived by air en route from. New York to London, said he had visited Singapore and Manila on his way to the United States and was impressed with the tremendous progress in the defence preparations in both places. Commenting on the Pacific situation, he said, “The facts look pretty grim, but instinct says that everything is all right.”
