MACHINE-STAMPED ENVELOPES

Conditions For Re-Use The position with respect to the reuse of envelopes bearing automatic stamping machine impressions was outlined by the Wellington chief postmaster, Mr. A. Fellow, in a letter which was before the council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce last night. . It had been decided, by way of trial, he wrote, to relax the restriction on the acceptance in the past of re-used envelopes bearing automatic stamping machine impressions which had served their original purpose. In future, envelopes bearing such impressions could be re-used, and would be accepted in the post under the following conditions :—(a) A label must be used which will cover the original address on the envelope, the name and address of the original sender (if given), and all postage stamps, stamp impressions, and any other markings; (b) the cover must be in a reasonably good condition.
