ENROLMENT FORM RETURNED
E.P.S. And Conscientious Objector
The statement that the E.P.S. did not welcome his application to join and returned his enrolment form was made by it conscientious objector in a letter read at yesterday’s sitting of the No. 4 Armed Forces Appeal Board. This was a case where the objector’s employers previously obtained a postponement of his service on the grounds of public interest and hardship, when alternative service in the E.P.S. was directed. This decision came up for the customary periodical review yesterday. when the sine die adjournment was renewed and the board decided, in view of the reservist’s statement, that it would consider the question of alternative service. The objector stated that he would not appear for his conscientious appeal and this was dismissed. The Crown representative, Mr. C. O. Bell, questioned the authority of the E.P.S. to reject reservist’s application.
