MAORI’S DEATH
Incident Outside Auckland Hotel (By Telegraph—l*ress Association.). AUCKLAND, November 24. Following a brawl outside an hotel at about « p.m. on Saturday, police found a Maori -lying seriously injured on the footpath. He died when being taken to Auckland hospital. The victim was Dave Repia, aged 21, single, Auckland. An inquest was adjourned after evidence of identification. Today two Maoris, Phillip Matthews, aged 23, and his brothel, Henry Matthews, aged 35, were charged in the Magistrates’ Court, with fighting with an unknown person in Nelson Street on Saturday evening. Phillip Matthews was further charged with assaulting on the same date Dave Repia so as to cause actual bodily harm. . , , In asking for a remand in both cases, the police said that the men were mixed up in a fight. Shortly afterward another man -was found injured on the footpath, and subsequently died. The Magistrate, Mr. Levien, remanded both men to December 1, and allowed bail.
