LABOUR PARTY AND COMMUNISM
Auckland Attitude
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, November 21.
With four members of the executive dissenting, the Auckland Trades Council of the Federation of Labour rejected the' joint statement issued by the Federation of Labour and the New Zealand Labour Party refusing to collaborate or associate with the Communist Party in New Zealand. The meeting, at which there was a large attendance of delegates, reaffirmed its decision to continue to cooperate with all sections of the Labour movement to achieve the maximum unity, “thus assuring that all support will be organized for the Soviet Union,” and severely censured members of the national executive of the Federation of Labour who signed the joint statement. These are the federation president, Mr. A. McLagau, and the secretary, Mr. F. O. Cornwell.
