UNIFORMS FOR HOME GUARD

Should Come Before Defaulters

A letter from the Upper Hutt Borough Council supporting a request by the Upper Hutt unit of the Home Guard for financial assistance to provide uniforms for the Home Guard was considered by the Hutt County Council at its meeting yesterday. Uniforms, it was stated, would cost £lBO, and the personnel had agreed to pay approximately half. After a discussion in committee, the council decided to reply that it felt that the matter was one for the Government, which should provide uniforms for the Home Guard before military defaulters.
