PUBLIC HEALTH TALK
Advice To Householders In Case Of Emergency
An interesting and instructive talk on sanitary precautions in dwellings in case of emergency was given by Mrs. A. Donner, of the Public Health Group, on Thursday night in the Miramar Central School, to members of the Miramar St. John Ambulance Association and Red Cross Society, and the Byall Bay Red Cross Society. Mrs. Donner was met by Miss Phillips, superintendent of Miramar St. John Division, and presented with a bouquet of roses.
Mrs. Donner pointed out that in the event of emergency caused, by enemy action or earthquake, the city’s water supply and drainage system would likely be interrupted, ad householders should therefore know how to meet resulting difficulties in the interests not only of their own health, but of that of the whole district. They should be prepared to relieve the strain on the damaged services by seeing that their own household at least was maintained in a satisfactory sanitary state. Details of the best methods of meeting such an emergency were made known, and, should the need arise, would prove of great assistance in ensuring that the most favourable conditions in the circumstances were provided.
