Seven G. B. Shaw Plays To Be Filmed
people will regard it as good news that Gabriel Pascal, English producer, should have announced that he is definitely committed to the making of seven named Shaw films, beginning with “Arms and the Man” and followed by “Captain Brassbound’s Conversion,” “The Devil’s Disciple,” “Saint Jban,” “Candida,” “Caesar an Cleopatra, and “Man and Superman.” An eighth is mentioned but the name is not given, so it is possible for admirers of the Shaw canon to nurse hopes of; anything from the severities of “The Doctor’s Dilemma” to that picturesque and philosophical comedy “Androcles and the Lion.” In any event we have an interesting and provocative sequence already arranged, with Mr. Shaw’s own (but unexplained) proviso that “The Devil’s Disciple” must be made in Canada after its revival as a stage play in New York.
