Lower House Vote U.S.A. BITTERLY DENOUNCED Claim Of Hostile Policy LEADERS SUPPORTED LONDON, November 18. i The Japanese House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution supporting the Government and strongly antagonistic to the United States.
The resolution accompanied the passing of the big military vote and it declared that this vote was for the purpose of war. The people of Japan believed that there was no chance of rising without fighting its battle together, it said. It urged the Government to carry out unfailingly the established policy of Japan.
In the attack directed against the United States the resolution stated that the greatest obstacle to a settlement of the hostilities in China was a group of hostile nations led by the United States. It claimed that America’s desire for world leadership was the fundamental fault behind the present conflict between tlie Axis Powers and Britain, America and the Soviet Union. The resolution -accused the United States of being unreasonable because it refused to recognize aud tried to hamper Japan’s programme of obtaining self-sufficiency, establishing a prosperity sphere and promoting co-pros-perity among the Asiatic peoples. “Strike While Iron Is Hot.” Most outspoken of the speakers to the resolution was Mr. Shimara, a former Minister of Agriculture. The United 'States, he said, was the rod', cause of the world upheaval, not only by supporting Chiang Kai-shek but also by interfering with the Government of Thailand, putting pressure on Burma for a new strategic base against Japan, putting pressure on the Nether lands East Indies to withhold war materials, and threatening Japan with Pacific bases as well as taking part in the European war by supporting Britain.
“Japan must strike while the iron is hot,” he said. The leaders l of America were a cancer, aud it was absolutely necessary to deal with that caucer.
