EXPORT TAX ON TIN FROM MALAYA

(Received November IS, 6.30 p.m.) RUGBY, November 17. A motion passed by the Tin Producers' Association states that the council of the association, having considered the way in which tin producers in Malaya are affected by the export tax on tin ore from that country to any country outside the British Empire, desires to cal! the attention of the Colonial Secretary to the following important considerations: —The tax amounting to approximately £6O a ton on ore is a prohibitive one and results in no revenue to the Malayan Government. The export tax is the only example within the British Empire of discrimination against buyers of non-British nationality and as such is contrary to the spirit of article four of the Atlantic Declaration.
