Some High Scoring PRESTIGE HOSIERY LEAD IN A GRADE The Wellington Mercantile Cricket League’s competition games .were continued on Saturday in fine weather, but the strong northerlj’ wind made conditions somewhat uncomfortable. High scoring was the order of " the day and four centuries were returned. At the same time there jjjere some exceptional bowling performances and five trundlers took seven wickets or more. M. Morris (Amalgamated Bricks) scored his second successive century, not an unusual feat for him, as he had done it in at least two previous seasons. C. Marsh (Umpire-Vie) hit up 122, while Guy (Taxes A) 109, W. Jupp (Insurance) 103 and King (Celtic) 95 showed good form. W. Smith (W.M.C.) was in deadly form with the ball. His eight wickets for 29 played a big part iu the. dismissal of Justice for 77 runs. Stoke (Empire-Vic) eight for 39, Oliver (Nivens) eight for 42, Gooch (Self-Help) seven for 58 and T. Marshall (Greys) seven for 72 also bowled well. A number of teams had the assistance of their soldier members on this occasion and khaki and Air Force blue predominated on most grounds. The positions of teams in the A grade are as follows: —Prestige Hosiery 8, Fort Dorset and Amalgamated Bricks 6, Working Men’s Club and Hannahs 3, Justice Department, Woolworths ami James Smiths 0.
