Chinese sources reveal that bitter fighting has been in progress since Sunday for the possession of a small island 30 miles south of Foochow. The Chinese claim to have expelled the Japanese garrison of about 1000 men.

JAPANESE FREIGHTER LOST

TOKIO, November 11. The Dome! news agency reports that a small Japanese freighter, the Shotoku Marti, is believed to have been rained and lost. The vessel left Seishin, in Korea, for Osaka on October 27, and has not been heard of since.
