SUBMARINE BLOWS

(British Official Wireless.) (Received November 12, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, November 11. An Admiralty communique states that a further successful action by H.M. submarines under his command has been reported by the Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean, Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham. Four enemy troopships or supply ships and two sailing vessels have been sunk, while two armed merchant cruisers and two supply ships have been seriously damaged. Three of the four ships destroyed were sunk by torpedoes. One was of large and two of medium tonnage. The fourth, also of medium tonnage, «was sunk by gunfire. One of the two sailing vessels sunk was flying the Nazi flag. The Italian armed merchant cruisers were escorting the convoys. One was a vessel of about 8000 tons and the other of the Citta di Palermi class of over 5000 tons. One of the damaged enemy supply ships was of medium size. This vessel was attacked by gunfire and left in flames. Another, a tanker, was hit by a torpedo. Sinkings Off Norway. Reports from Norway to the Norwegian telegraph agency, quoted by the Press Association, reveal that the ships sunk in the successful attacks against German 'transports by British submarines off the Norwegian coast were the German transports Donau, 9035 tons, and the Bahia Laura, 8561 tons, with 3000 soldiers and numbers of horses and mules.

A Norwegian vessel which arrived shortly after the attack succeeded in rescuing less than 200 men. A message from New York reports that British warships have captured the Finnish freighter Anneberg, 2544 tons.
