Mr. J. G. Groeninger About To Leave Auckland
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 12. “We feel that the bonds that bind our Empire to tlie United States cannot be too tight and cannot be too firm,” said Mr. R. M. Algie, consul for Czechoslovakia, at a gathering arranged by the Auckland consular corps to bid farewell to the deaiv of the corps, Mr. J. G. Groeninger, Consul for the United States, who will leave shortly for AVashington before taking a new post in England, and to welcome the newly-appointed United States Consul, Mr. Hiram Boucher, and his wife and family. ~ ±t The deputy dean, Mr. David Nathan, welcomed Mr. Boucher and expressed the hope that he would have a happy term of service in Auckland. Mr. Norman Heath, Consul for Latvia, in farewelling Mr. Groeninger, presented him with a greenstone tiki. Mr. AV. F. Bull, Canadian Trade Commissioner, also spoke and in reply Mr. Groeninger expressed his regret at leaving New Zealand. Mr. Boucher was unanimously elected dean of the corps.
