Stocking Shortage

Sir, —I note a paragraph to the effect. that Dominion hosiery. mills are turning opt four million pairs of stockings annually. Oh, to lay my hands on at least one pair of them! It is reasoned by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, that that means 12 pairs of stockings for a quarter of a million women 16 years and over. By our rights, then, we women should really have centipedal legs so that we could use up our rations, but so far, with experience of only one pair of legs, the difficulty has been to find stockings for them. Granted that some of the four million stockings might be wool ..or artificial silk, I don’t care; I’d wear anything If it came out of a box labelled stockings! If you go into a store now you can leave your name and address and the price of a pair of stockings—and maybe, in a week, or a month, or a year, you’ll get a pair.—l am. etc.. NICE LEGS.. Wellington, November. 10.
