Tram conductors are sometimes the recipients of foreign coins which would be refused by shopkeepers, and it was stated recently that this was becoming a regular method of disposing of otherwise useless coins. An Auckland conductor was given recently, instead of a penny, a 10-ccntime piece of the time of Napoleon 111, bearing the dale 1856.
