SPEEDING SUPPLIES TO RUSSIA

Australian Rolling-Stock

For Iran

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 17.

A decision by Australia to send railway rolling-stock worth £1,000,600 to Iran is described here as one of the most important contributions to the war effort in materials which the Commonwealth has made. The equipment is for speeding up of supplies to Russia. The remaining New South Wales rolling-stock will work 24 hours a day to prevent a bottle-neck of railway transport, and the Federal Government has decided to cut down transcontinental services in order to send locomotives to Iran.
