D.F.C. AWARDED

R.A.F. Pilot From Nelson Flight Lieutenant J. O. F. Haytor, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Haytor, Takaka, Nelson, has been awarded the D.F.C., according to cabled advice received by his parents. He was born in Timaru in 1917 and educated at Nelson College. He received his flying training at Blenheim, Rongotai and Wigram, leaving New Zealand in 1939 to take up a short-service commission in the R.A.F. He served in bombers in France till the Dunkirk evacuation and is now flying Spitfires. He was married last December to Miss Pat Coote, daughter of Colonel Coote, India. Miss L. Clifford, Orangi Kaupapa Road, Wellington, is an aunt of Flight Lieutenant Haytor.
