“Boys” As Applied To Soldiers (By Telegraph—l.’i’ettj Association.) DUNEDIN, October 5. Strong exception to the practice of referring to lhe New Zealand troops overseas as tlie ‘boys” was voiced by Lieutenant-Colonel J. F. Jeffery, area staff officer. He described the practice as jingoistic and shallow, and said it was resented by the’men themselves. “Right throughout the country you heard the men referred to as ’boys.’ and in my opinion it is more than time the term was dropped. Actually that is not just my opinion ; it is the opinion of the troops overseas, and has been s|H>ken of several times by men invalided borne. Those who have gone overseas are doing a man's job,”
