SELECTION DAY

Fine Arts Exhibition SIX HUNDRED ENTRIES The council of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts is to meet at the National Art Gallery today as a selection committee for its annual exhibition, which will be opened there on October 24 by his Excellency the Governor-General. Sir Cyril Newall. Entries are expected to be about 600. and they have come from all parts of New Zealand. Oils and water-colours are the main representation, but sculptures and craft works have also been forwarded for’exhibition. Numbers of new applicants for artist membership have .submitted entries, and the selected pictures will probably be hung at the end of next week.
