Russians Land West Of Leningrad SUCCESS IN CENTRE LONDON, October .3. Moscow radio stated that Russian marines landed on the Ger-man-occupied coast of the Gulf of Finland west of Leningrad yesterday and have gained a strong foothold after fierce and constant fighting. Moscow also reports a-Russian success well behind the German lines on the central front. In operations which took place on the road between Vitebsk and Smolensk, and between Minsk and Smolensk, several hundred German officers and men were killed and 17 transport columns annihilated. Two S.S. battalions were also routed.
