LABOUR LIKELY TO BE CALLED ON TO FORM GOVERNMENT

Mr Fadden’s United Australia Party-United Country Pai ty Government was defeated today by 36 votes to 33 in the division on Labours censure Motion in the debate on the Budget in the House o Representatives. The two Victorian Independent men* rs " 11 son (Wimmera) and Mr. Coles (Melbourne), who held the balance nf nnwer ill the House, voted with Labour. _ P Mr Coles who resigned from the United Australia Party when Mr. Fadden became Prime Minister, told the House that his decision had been taken to end unstable control of the war effort- Mi-- V Bo said that if Labour could form a. Government he would support it ■ The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Curtin, sa ’ d subs he regarded the vote as a clear indication that a Labour Government was wanted. He was prepared to form a Government. There is speculation whether Mr. Fadden will recommend a solution or adrise the Gorernor-Generai, Lord to ™-»n Mr.' Curtin to form a Ministry. It is understood that Lord bonne will be advised to adopt the latter course.
