Mr. A. L. Wall has returned to Wellington from Australia. Mr. R. McPherson, wheat and flour controller, left Wellington yesterday on his return to Christchurch. Dr. J. Weiser, Dunedin, has been appointed resident doctor at Lome Infirmary, Invercargill. Wing Commander E. G. Grenville, of Air Headquarters, Wellington, returned from Auckland yesterday. Major-General E. Puttick, Chief of the General Staff, was a passenger from Wellington for the south by the steamer express yesterday. Mr. W. Machin, Christchurch, has returned from a visit to Australia. He left by the steamer express for the south yesterday. Mr. C. C. Davis, who has been on a visit to Australia, left Wellington by yesterday’s steamer express on his return to Christchurch. The Hons. M. Connelly, M.L.C., and J. K. Archer, M.L.C., travelled south from Wellington by yesterday’s steamer express. Inspector D. L. Calwell, who has been transferred to Greymouth from Auckland, where he was sub-inspector of police, has taken over his new duties. Mr. A. Der-bie, manager of the Southland Frozen Meat Company Ltd., and Mr. John Gilkison, Invercargill, left Wellington for the south by the steamer express yesterday. Mr. L. A. Eady, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, was appointed an Auckland representative on the Associated Chambers of Commerce executive for 1942 at a meeting of the Auckland chamber. Mr. N. B. Spencer, a member of the council, was nominated for the vice-presidency.
