It was stilf raining hard at Paekakariki at midnight, and no indication could be given when the line would be clear again. Both the 3 p.m. train and the Limited went north via the Wairarapa line. Tlie Auckland-Wellington express which left Auckland at 3 p.m. yesterday will also travel via the Wairarapa. It is expected to arrive at midday instead of the usual 7 a.m. Three slips between Wadestown and Ngaio blocked the Wellington-Johnson-ville electric railway line about 3 p.m. yesterday, causing a hold-up of all traffic. Passengers for Ngaio, Khandallah and Johnsonville were transported in buses. It is hoped to have the service restored today. A slip a little to the north of Pukerua Bay yesterday morning caused a delay of 25 minutes to the Palmerston NorthWellington passenger train, which did not arrive till 10.49 a.m.
