“The reorganization of the Home Guard is proceeding as fast as circumstances will permit,” said the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, replying to an urgent question by Mr. Broadfoot (Opposition, Waitomo). “The inclusion of the Home Guard iu the defence plans of the Dominion is wrapped up in the general reorganization of the land forces, which is the subject of a special report by the military adviser, now under consideration by the Government,” said Mr. Fraser. “In the meantime the necessary preparatory work is in hand to implement any decision made by the Government and instructions will be issued as soon as a decision is made.” Mr. Broadfoot asked why, since the announcement on July 31 of the taking over of the Home Guard by the Army, accompanied by a statement that it would bo divided into division I and division 11, Home Guardsmen had not received any explanation Of the arrangement. He also asked by what date the Government intended to complete its 'reorganization of the Home Guard as a separate entity within army control.
