South Island Show (Bv Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, October 1. Record entries were received for the New Zealand National Daffodil Society’s annual South Island Show, which opened in Dunedin today. Blooms shown represent growers from Invercargill to Marton and rarely, if ever, have finer flowers been exhibited. Awards: British Raisers’ Cup, for IS varieties of daffodils raised in tbe British Isles and grown in New Zealand: H. Brownlee (Sawyer’s Bay, Dunedin), 1; George Lewis (Christchurch), 2; H. T, Trevena (Dunedin), 3. Australian Daffodil Growers’ Trophy, 12 varieties, Australian-raised daffodils, grown in New Zealand: Alaa Gibson (Marton). . N.Z. Seedling Trophy: G. Lewis 1, W. Balch (Christchurch), 2; J. MDick (Oamaru), 3. Champion of champions and champion incomparabilis: T. Houston (Timant). . ~ ~ Ollier champion blooms: Yellow trumpet, G. Lewis; white trumpet, H. T. Trevena; bi-eolour trumpet, John Black (Dunedin) ; ban'll, G. H. Brownlee ; leedsii, A. Gibson. South Island mateur championship: K. B. Burns (Timnru), 1; Mrs. R. K. Ireland (Oamaru), 2; C. G. Hayes (Invercargill), 3. Empire championship: T. Houston.
