The lirst Auckland prosecutions under the new headlight restriction regulations were brought by the traffic department o£ tlie Auckland City Council against five motorists before Mr. Levleu, S.M. The charges were of failing to dip their car lights as the blackout conditions demanded. Fines ranging from 10/- to 30/- with costs were imposed. The magistrate said that “substantially heavier fines will be inflicted in future, particularly when the offence occurs on roads open to the sea.”
