Foreword To Annual Report In these days of war, just as life for the individual was made up of constant changes, upheavals and unusual opportunities, so was the life of an association such as the Y.W.C.A., said the president,. Mrs. J. S. Martin m a foreword contained in the annual re port of the Wellington Y.W.C.A. which is to be presented at the annual meeting tonight. , Opportunity for service had come not only to the organization itself, but also to its members, three of whom had gone abroad. Miss Bridgman had gone to the Y.W.C.A. in Singapore, Miss Bennell to the Adelaide ’ Association and Miss Saunders, had been one of the first or the Y W C.A. members selected to join Miss Jean Beggs’ Staff in the Middle The board of directors lost one of its most valued members in the death of Mrs. Matheson, vice-president, during the year. Six months later the association lost its beloved president, Mrs. Gardner. Tribute to her faithful service, keen interest and sympathetic understanding was paid by Mrs. Martin in her letter. With God’s guidance and co-opera-tion of all members the association must march on, she said in conclusion.

A charming little frock for the tea dance or cocktail hour is of black crepe with a knife pleated skirt. The pleats, stitched down, form the side of the bodice which has a r<?w of self buttons up the back and a sequinned collar round the neck. Wilson’s, 52 Willis Street. —Advt.
