NATIONAL SAVINGS
Everybody In Riverton Has An Account Little change in the towns leading the postal districts occurred during the second fortnightly period of the third stage of the National Savings flag competition, which is restricted to towns having a population of 1000 or more. The second fortnightly period ended last Sunday. Riverton, in the Invercargill district, leads the Dominion with 100 per cent., depositors to population. This office, however, though entitled to retain the flag decided, as a sporting gesture and because of its unassailable position, to hand the flag to the town next in order of merit in the district and thus keep alive the spirit of the competition. Tuatapere, having the next highest percentage in the district, accordingly secures the distinction of flying the flag during the current fortnightly period. The only other change recorded is in the Napier district where Taradale has replaced Wairoa. Second place for Dominion leadership is held by Geraldine in the Tlmaru district with 50.4 per cent, depositors to population. For all districts the leading towns are as follows Auckland district, Dargaville; Blenheim district, Picton; Christchurch district, Kaiapoi; Dunedin district, Owaka; Gisborne district, Opotiki; Greymouth district, Hokitika ; Hamilton district, Rotorua; Invercargill district, Tuatapere: Napier, Taradale; Nelson district, Wakefield; New Plymouth district, Stratford; Oamaru district, Oamaru; Palmerston North district, Palmerston North; Thames district, Thames; Timaru district, Geraldine; Wanganui district, Ohakune; Wellington district, Featherston; Westport district, Westport.
