MAIN POST-WAR PROBLEM
"What To Do With Germany,” by Colonel T. H. Minsball, D.S.O.
(London: Allen and Unwin).
What is to be done with Germany when she is beaten? This question, the author asserts, must be discussed, and the basis of a solution contrived, even while the war rages, if the end of the present struggle is to bring about a final settlement of Europe’s troubles, not merely a breathing space between conflicts. This book contains a critical analysis of the German character, its vices and virtues, its abilities and failings, backed with copious evidence from German sources. It then examines the causes which have led to the domination of Germany by, Prussia, and the consequent growth of militarism and craving for world power. The author builds a strong case to support his conviction that, till Germany Is freed from this domination, neither defeat, concessions, nor even complete disarmament will produce a lasting peace, and that any movement for a better and more secure order in Europe would be consequently bound to fail. Various plans for freeing Germany from Prussian influence are examined, and some definite proposals made.
