INDOOR BASKETBALL

Championship Decided The open knock-out competition for the 1941 season in men’s indoor basketball, was concluded last Tuesday night at the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium. The results were as follows: — Quarter-finals : Y.M. Tigers 20, v. Woolworths 14: Taxes B 19, v. Mormons 6; L.K. Circle 20, v. Army School 17; Taxes A 14, v. Y.M. Gym. 11. Semifinals: Y.M. Tigers 32, v. Taxes B 26: Taxes A 20. v. L.K. Circle 19. Final: Taxes A 30, v. Y.M. Tigers 11. As both the finalists had tied in the A championship, the management committee ruled that the knockout final would also decide the championship. The season will be brought to a close next Tuesday with a series of exhibition games, including a women’s representative match between Masterton and Wellington. During the evening the Hon. W. E. Parry will present the championship cup to the Taxes Club.
