Toward the end of the year those interested in pianofore music will probably be given the opportunity of hearing Mr. Arthur Alexander in recitals under the direction of the National Broadcasting Service. It must be well over 30 years since Mr. Alexander was heard iu Wellington, he having made a tour of the country before he left for England. _ . , ~ Mr. Alexander’s real name is Arthur Alexander Isaacs. He is the son of the late Mr. Alfred Isaacs, Dunedin, and a nephew of the late Mr. Phillip Isaacs, Wellington. He is also a cousiu of Mr. M. M. Heinemann, Wellington. At the time he gave recitals in New Zealand, Mr. Alexander was considered one of the most brilliant pianists the country had produced. He had not been long in England before he was offered and accepted an appointment as professor of the pianoforte at the Royal College of Music, London, iu which capacity he is said to have done good work. He toured South Africa last year as examiner for that institution.
