Mrs. Dreaver’s Opinions BILL TO BE INTRODUCED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ' WANGANUI, August 30. A Bill of great importance io women, and of a type new to I’urliament, is to be presented in the-House next week by Mrs. M. M. Dreuver, Government member lor Waileiualu, according to a statement made by her in an interview in Marton. It will be the first Bill presented by the nbwly-elected member. Mrs. Dreaver said she was not .at liberty to give details of the Bill, which is being presented following requests Iroin women all over New Zealand. She predicted that the measure would create a great deal of interest. Discussing general questions from the women’s point of view, Mrs. Dreaver suggested that more use could be made ot women cooks in military camps, both in New Zealand and overseas. "It would be better for the men to have women cooks in camps, as there is good food provided, but often it i> not well cooked,” she said. In camps where girls were employed they were doing excellent work, but it more opportunities were created she felt sure that many young women would readily leave their present positions to serve. ’ , • , Discussing radio programmes, she said it would be better if the National Broadcasting service put over more modern popular music programmes. More old national songs and folk songs should also be broadcast, and special attention should be paid Maori items. Not only should a wide variety of Maori items be recorded, but films of their life and customs should be made, to provide an imperishable record. There was a danger that with Maori children accepting more and more the European styles and customs the old arts of the Maori race might be lost to New Zealand.
