Reports of.' sabotage and’ unrest in are corroborated in a communique issued by the German military- Governor of Serbia announcing reprisals. It gives the names of six Serbian outlaws whose houses in Podgorac- have been ■ razed, and the names of five others who threw explosives at a train. ■■ General Neditch, formerly the Yugoslav Minister of War, has formed a Serbian Government at the request of the German military commander. A Vichy report states that eight more executions occurred in Paris yesterday for, aiding the enemy, making 11 since the Laval shooting. A wave of rebellion against Marshal Petain’s regime is sweeping France, according .to the “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent, Mr, E. Wareing. The ■ seriousness of the position is indicated by a 300-miles journey made by Marshal Petain from Vichy to Auch for a conference with Admiral Darlan. , . Feeling is reported to be running high in Caen,. the home town of Paul Colette, assailant of M. .Laval, where there have recently been numerous incidents. The police have renewed their drive against opposition elements in Meknes, Toulouse, Marseilles and Rouen, while seven “militant Communists” have 'been arrested in Algiers. A further sign of the Vichy leaders fear of unrest can be seen in a new decree against a meeting of Parliament, which was formally ordered to a mountain resort near Hiom.

A French secret radio broadcasting froin northern France today appealed to the French workers to unite in the struggle against the Axis which is at present being waged in France. The announcer said, “Laval and Deat have met their fate. De Brinon, Vichy’s representative in occupied Frimce and the other traitors are not going to escape the fury of the French people. It is cheap to accuse us of working for foreign interests. This will not prevent us from uniting and liberating France from the German yoke.”

Enemy Signs “Desecrated.” The free Belgian news agency states that the Germans have imposed a curfew in Mons, Belgium, in retaliation for desecration of German victory signs. A mysterious fire destroyed vast shipbuilding yards at Baesrode, where Rhine barges are built.

At a meeting in London on August 2S the Bolish Cabinet passed a resolution condemning the German crime of the execution'of M. Casimir Bartel, an eminent scientist and former Prime Minister, who was shot in Lwew, and the imprisonment of 60 Polish professors at Lwow University and Technical College. The resolution says that the Germans are attempting to destroy the Polish creative mind and Wot out the

existence of Poland's centuries-old achievements in science and culture. The crimes, it concludes, "shall not go unpunished.” Moscow radio yesterday quoted a report from Berne that more than 1000 persons were executed for sabotage in Germany during the eight weeks up to the middle of August. A Stockholm message says that Major Quisling is gravely ill at the result of taking a» overdose of sleeping tablets.

Laval is that though there has been some improvement big condition still remains serious.

A Vichy report states that M. Laval has developed bronchitis and has a rising temperature and inflammation of the lungs. This makes an operation to extract the bullet near his heart impossible.

' THAT RADIO VOICE

LONDON, August 29.

The German equivalent of "Sez you” interjected the mystery radio voice when the Berlin announcer last night claimed thatmany British airfields had been bombed. j ’■

As soon as the -German announcer began to read the news bulletin the voice greeted him with shouts of "Lies.” "New successes by the German and allied armies are reported,” said the announcer. "Hitler’s lying,” came the voice.

Other interjections by the voice were: "Hitler’s day of reckoning is near; you’ll have to pay for your crimes.” "Hitler, you won’t escape; the rope is ready for you.” “Hitler, your war is lost; Germany will be free again.” The interruptions have become so serious that Dr. Goebbels in a broadcast from all German stations last night admitted that innumerable people in Germany heard the interruptions and also that the people might, be restless because they thought the Government was doing nothing about it. He assured his listeners tha_t no further harm could be done and spoke of counter-measures. Meanwhile the voice continues.
