CALL FOR BIGGER U.S. EFFORT

London Paper Says It Is Disappointed INDUSTRIAL RESULTS

(Received August 31, 7 p.m.)

LONDON, August 30.

The “Sunday Express,” in a leading article, says: “Britain is breasting the raging flood In an effort to save drowning civilization. America has thrown out a line and will give us clothes if we reach the shore. We think it would be no strain on her resources to wade in at least to her waist and stretch out a firm hand. “We are frankly disappointed with the American contribution to the rescue. Only a fraction of, American industry is harnessed to tvar production, and even that portion is subject to delay. “Millions of German hands are always available to sully and shorten the days of man. Is it asking too much to the comfortable New World to devote some more millions of man-days to the salvation of humanity?”
