Interprovincial Hockey MATCH WITH WELLINGTON Cltiefly because of tlifijr superiority tn the fdrwards, lite Canterbury hockey representatives beat Wellington ' by three goals to two al the Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon. The-match was nut up to the highest . inlet provincial form, but after a some'vhat dull first spell there was au exhibition of much better hockey in the second. The ground was very heavy after: overnight rain and there was no doubt that that took a lot of sparkle out of the game. Canterbury opened the score when N. Bowden goaled from close in. It was nor till shortly before the interval that Wellington equalized. Scott for Wellington equalized the score at 2-aIJ about halfway through thespell. Strenuous efforts by both sides to get ahead made the closing stages of the niateli interesting for the spectators.
