THEFT OF POSTAL PACKETS

"The public’s confidence in the postal service must be maintained,” said Mr Justice Northcroft to-day when lie sentenced AVilliain Irvine to bard labour for 18 months on seven charges ot' stealing postal packets addressed to soldiers.
Counsel said the lack of a motive for the crimes made it difficult to understand (belli.
