TARGETS IN WEST GERMANY
R.A.F. Bomber And Fighter Activity
LONDON, August 6.
British bombers last night again raided targets in western Germany, the main objectives being at Mannheim, Karlsruhe, and Frankfurt. Bad weather is still hindering largescale operations in the air. Nevertheless, R.A.F. aircraft were out over northern France early today. Ferman raiders dropped bombs at a few places ip the east coast of England and Scotland last night. Damage was slight. There were a few casualties. An Air Ministry communique says that Blenheims of the Bomber Command attacked an enemy convoy off the Dutch coast yesterday morning. Direct hits were seen on a ship of about'2ooo tons.
Other Blenheims bombed enemy patrol ships off the German coast early in the afternoon, and scored hits on three of them.
Our fighters carried out offensive patrols over the Channel an'd in northern France during the day. During one of these patrols low-level attacks were made on an aerodrome near Cherbourg, and several enemy aircraft on the ground were hit and damaged. One of our fighters is missing.
