WATERFRONT DISPUTE
Men Expected To Return To Work This Morning
The waterfront dispute concerning tlie unloading of a cargo of guano at Wellington was still unsettled yesterday. The company handling the cargo is not prepared to pay the rate of 4/6 an hour claimed by tlie men, who did not turn to at 8 a.m. yesterday. It was then raining. An official of the company said that the men went away at 10 a.m. It was fine later in tlie day and the ship could have been worked. However, it was expected that the men would turn to this morning. If the men persist in their refusal they will be liable to be penalized by the Waterfront Control Commission, which has the power to suspend them from all work on the waterfront.
