Difficulties Of Electric Service
The overcrowding of the electric trains on the Wellington-Johnsonville line was discussed at length by the Ngaio Progressive Aseociation at its annual melting this week and it was decided that the Kailways Department should be asked to arrange with secondary schools lor pupils not to travel on the 0.10 p.m. and 5.22 p.m. trains. -t = The president said that when it was tiret seen how successful the electric service was going to be an endeavour to ot>tain more rolling Stock was made, but the import restrictions were an obstacle. Now delivery of the vehicles could not be obtained from the makers because ot the war.' The overcrowding ot the traijm was specially distressing at rush Periods, and it was a pity that so many secondary school pupils, for whose the department received a very small paj meat, travelled then, rarental co-opera tiou was necessary. An attempt was to te made to improve the ventilation of the cars 1 discussion it was suggested that the rush hour service be improved by tlie running of more buses, but the president said it had been asserted that buses also were difficult to import.
