Dividend’s Good Hurdling

Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, July 29.

In spite of a fairly heavy frost, conditions were favourable for track work at Kicearton today and a good deal of galloping was done on No. 8 grass track, which was soft in places. Times were not as fast as usual.

Haughty Winner and The Wrecker were first- out and they covered six furlongs in 1.19. Parchment and Areas followed in 1.20 3-5 and Gunga Din and Rebel Star recorded 1.19 2-5. Others over this distance included My Abbey and Stylosa. 1.19 2-5; Ackemma and Wagner, 1.19 2-5; Muffler and Rue, 1.19; Ann Mie, 1.20 2-5; Knight Commander and Good Health, 1.20 4-5; Eulogist, 1.20 2-5; Nightglass, 1.21 2-5; and Myraid and Anchusa, 1.22. . _ Over five furlongs the best tune, 1.5, was credited to Blue Coat and to Shikari and Wild Talk. Others included Sir Gundi, 1.5 2-5; Scottish Dale, 1.6 2-5; Iceland Spar, 1.6 2-5; Miss Saone, 1.6 2-5; Hurry Girl and Sham Boy, 1.6 1-5; Dictate and Scarteen, 1.6 4-5; Gay Parade, 1.6 4-5; Blue Abbey, 1.7 2-5; Square Cut and Loyd Midas, 1.7 2-5; Treasurer and St. Cloud, 1.7 2-5: and Alias and Espionage 1.7 3-5. Dividend and Rfd Dragon jumped sis hurdles together, the former giving a dashing display. Red Dragon shaped satisfactorily. Battelevale negotiated five steeplechase fences smartly and Waka. who has been suffering from a slight injury, was out. over three brush fences. Arrivals today were Wings of Song and Foxinna (L. G. Morris): The Dozer and Surpai (H Gray); Erination (A McDonald) ; Gayest Son and Kinkajou (J, P. Ryan); Aussie Ra (P. Johnson); Dauber (A. Tinker); Dozie Boy, Black Majesty, Greek Dancer, Catanach and Dainty Dell (G. W. Greene) ; Saxon Tor. Young Charles, Tidewaiter and Noble Fox (H. Dulieu); Sunny Knight and Silver Ball (J, Paul); Distress Signal and Silverhope (F.’ McHugh); and Minority (R. Johnson).
