RAILWAY OFFICERS
Conference Of Institute
The annual conference of the New Zealand Railway Officers’ Institute in Wellington ended on Saturday, after having been received as a deputation by members of the railways management. Several important matters were fully discussed, and the amicable relations existing between the management and the institute were stressed.
Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mr. J. S. H. Orr (Invercargill); vice-presi-dents, Messrs. M. J. Forde (Wellington) and S. F. Clarke (Morven); general treasurer, Mr. G. R. Wilson (Wellington) ; executive committee (all members of the Wellington branch), Messrs. J. A. Stead (maintenance), F. A. Ellis (locomotive running), F. D. Trewern (workshops), W. E. Renai (stores), and J. S. Lynch, C. V. Abrahall, A. F. Gilmore, and T. D. Lewis (traffic) ; auditors, Messrs. A. F. Taylor and B. Tangney. Mr. M. J. Forde was reappointed editor of the “Advocate,” the official organ of the institute. Satisfaction and unanimous approval was recorded of the splendid work throughout the year of the general secretary, Mr. V. J. Stanley, and Hie assistant general secretary (Miss MeCallion).
