OBSCENE EXPOSURE
Carpenter Found Guilty Three charges of wilful and obscene exposure in a Wellington tramcar about Ypril 16, April 28, and May 28, were brought against Joseph Bartley, carpenter, aged 39, in the Supreme Court, Weilington, yesterday. Accused was alteraatively charged with on the same da-tea. doing an indecent act intending thereby to insult or offend women named in the indictment. -.ft The case was heard before Mr. Justice Smith and a jury of 12. Mr. C. HWeston, K.C., with him Mr. W. R. appeared for the Crown, and Mr. h. J. Foot for accused. After hearing the evidence, counsels addresses, and his Honour’s summing up, the jury brought in a verdiet of guilty on the three charges of obscene exposure. The jury added a rider that they wished to record their appreciation of the publicspirited action of four nurses from the Wellington Hospital in coming forward to fulfil such an unpleasant duty. Sentence was deferred till this morning. '
