Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, June 22. Their Excellencies the GovernorGeneral and Lady Newall attended Divine Service at St. Mark’s Church this morning. This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall was present at a concert organized by the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in aid of the Patriotic Fund. Yesterday his Excellency, who was accompanied by Lady Newall and attended by Wing Commander H. C. Bevan and Captain C. J. HollandMartin, took the salute at the parade of troops. General Sir Guy Williams and Brigadier C. A. West have left Government House. Sir Evelyn and Lady Wrench have arrived at Government House. Ministerial. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Supply and Munitions, who will be engaged in the South Island today on linen flax business, Will return to Wellington tomorrow’. The Hou. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour, returned to Wellington yesterday from the South Island. Mr. C. L. Duigan, chairman of the Wanganui Herald Newspaper Company, Ltd., is visiting Christchurch. Mr. James Samuel Roberts, assistant borough engineer at Napier, has been appointed assistant engineer to the Invercargill City Council. Mr. Percy Nesbit, managing director of a firm of Australian and New Zealand merchants, was recently re-elected to the Council of the London Chamber of Commerce. Major John Brooke, who was Commandant of the Army School, Trentham, before going overseas, has arrived safely in Egypt, from Greece and Crete. Dr. It. M. Stevenson, Ph.D., F.R.G.S., well known as a missionary and preacher, has agreed to conduct Sunday services in the Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church till the end of August. Professor Wodzicki, Consul-General for Poland in New Zealand, leaves today for Palmerston North, where he will be the guest of the Rotary Club. He is also to visit Massey Agricultural College and will return to Wellington on Wednesday. .Mr. G. L. Laureason, Commissioner of Transport, who has been visiting Christchurch discussing with motorists the effect of the new lighting restrictions on road traffic, returned to Wellington on Saturday. Corporal R. M. MacFarlane, M.P., formerly mayor of Christchurch, who has been in training at Burnham Camp, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant. He is now Acting-Quarter-master-Sergeant, attached to F. Company, A Training Battalion.
