WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Training College A Draw With Kia-Ora The outstanding game in the Wellington Basketball Association's Senior A championship competition on Saturday was that in which Training College A drew with Kia-Ora. It was a splendid exhibition of the game, with excellent passing movements by both sides. Scoring was even throughout, but almost on time the score was 20-19 in favour of Training College A, and Kia-Ora made their final goal as time was called. The other Training College team had a good fast galnc against Aspro and won principally because Aspro favours a fairly high puss, which Training College almost always intercepted successfully, keeping the ball in their own forward third. Island Bay had no difficulty tn beating W.C.O.G. The former were playing particularly well, and the latter seem quite to have lost their dash. In the second half Island Bay kept the ball with their own forwards, so it was not surprising that, they made a good score. .The first round is now linisUed with Kia-Ora, W.E.0.G., Training College and Island Bay all equal. The second round will be worth watching. Not in the history of the association Has there been so interesting a position of teams. The selectors had a busy time after the matches in testing out their players, and new lists will lie published with the fixtures. For Senior Aan innovation this year is to try out special players in clubs that have no team in the Senior A grade. Mrs. 11. D. Muir (selector) has asked several players to attend practices Following are the results:— Senior A.—'lraining College A (20), Kia Ora (20); T.C. (25), Aspro (12); W.E.O.G. (241, V.N.C.
