Rise In Estimated Expenditure
The annual report of the Wellington Fire Board, presented at yesterday's meeting. shows that the estimated expenditure for the current year is £17,200, a rise of £4BOO on last year’s total. The Wellington City Council’s contribution has automatically been increased from £21,000 to £23,100. The tire premiums paid to insurance companies totalled £176,512 last year against £171,12S tins year, a slight decrease, so that the percentage of levy to premiums is advanced from .11.81)5 per cent., in I'JIO--41, to 13.415 per cent, this year. Maintenance work at the several brigade stations received full attention during tile year, the report stated, and the tire-fight ing plant had been kept in good order. Supplement,-i r.t emergency equipment had been provided for to meet the air-raid menace I’l,ins for the co-ordination of the city and Hurt Valley brigades wore also being made, as well as for extending the brigade service to embrace the Johnsonville Town District.
