MAGISTRATES’ COURT
Air. Stout, S.AL, presided over a sitting of the Magistrates’ Court in AVellington yesterday. An order for deportation, the men concerned to be kept in custody meantime up to a period of six mouths, was made in the case of Lou Fou, aged 39, and Ching Chu, aged 29, ship's tiremen, charged with being prohibited immigrants. They lauded from an overseas- ship six weeks ago and were found working in market gardens at Otaki. Ivy Aladeleine Graham, domestic, aged 23, was sentenced to six mouths’ hard labour for escaping from a Borstal institution, the term to be served at the expiration of her Borstal detention period. Ou two charges of theft she was convicted and discharged. Elaine Josephine Shinglelou (nee Kiusi), domestic, aged 19, who escaped along with the previous accused, was ordered to 1 be detained for a further six months- at Ibe expiration of her present term. It was slated this was her second escape. AVbile at liberty site married, giving a false age to the registrar. This accused and Ronald Edmund Shingleton were then jointly charged with making a false declaration under the Alarriage Act.
Detective-Sergeant AV. AlcLennan said that lie did not think any good purpose would be served by putting the country to the expense of a trial, so be would offer no evidence on this charge.
